Oh dear!!! Paul's disappointment started hear! Mae Sai was abit of a let down really or we'd built it up too much - we'd seen postcards showing some fantastic views from a wat located on a hill in the town and we got up there and both thought 'Is that it?' I think if we could do this bit again we would have headed straight to Chiang Khong from Chiang Rai and done the Golden Triangle - we wrongly thought this would be easy to do from Mae Sai as well but it wasn't which led to another frustration as we could only get to the other towns in the Golden Triangle by songthaew - Our pet-hate as they always charge a fortune for going no distance at all! So we ended up staying here a night, having a nightmare with phonecards and in the end deciding to backtack to Chiang Rai to get the bus out to Chiang Khong - just to show it doesn't go smoothly all of the time!
BUT - I did get my photo taken at the Northern most point in Thailand! COME ON!
