You should have seen us this morning crawling around on our hands and knees to double check that we didn't forget anything in the hotel Avalon. Sometimes it pays off.

At the Gare Du Nord we had arrived with enough time to spare and we needed it as we had to check in first then got thru French and subsequently British immigration clearance but all went smooth.

The train ride was un eventful Papa bought the London Oystercard on the train, this card is the same as the go card in Brisbane or for other people who read this blog a public transport card. At the St Pancras International station I changed some euros in to pounds. Outside the station we took a London taxi to our hotel and once we had unpacked we made our way to portobello road close to the hotel. These markets were just made for me so many things to see and to browse through it's a miracle I didn't buy more than I did. Right at the end we found a shoe store just too hard to resist, the crush of other women buyers didn't stop me and papa encouraged me to get some as these were the perfect shoes for the perfect price to go with my dress.
After a nostalgic walk through Porchester Terrace we paused at number 23, where papa told me he courted mum. I was only interested in the tube track next to this house. Nostalgia took hold and we went to a Greek restaurant around the corner. After reality had kicked in we realised it was the wrong restaurant but by then we had eaten and paid.

Anyway, it's Christmas in London and since we were close we took a bus to Oxford street and walked to Piccadilly Circus and I enjoyed the Christmas lights immensely. Tomorrow we are expected at Buckingham palace for tea and did you know that the queen does all the lift announcements in the tube too? I better get to bed, so nighty night.

Mum on

Glad to hear that London is going so well. I am starting to wonder how you are going to fit all your purchases into your case....hopefully Papa has lots of room.
