We woke up this morning to a white winter wonderland outside our hotel bedroom window. It was a lot of snow and we set out to make a snowman but it was too cold so we hurried back inside. After a delicious buffet breakfast it was time to get ready for our trip to Amsterdam. The car was covered in snow and needed a good scraping to clean the windows but we left the snow on the roof. The road was clean and we made it in good time. Reinie was waiting for us and it was great to meet Bart's family. She is very lovely and welcoming to us. after lunch Oma left and it was time for my first outing in Amsterdam. Me and papa decided to take Reinie's bike but as soon as we left it started to rain. We made it to the Waterlooplein where the markets were starting to pack up but I managed to do some good browsing anyway. Then on to a museum The hermitage to escape from the cold and have some nice cakes too. With weather like this small stages is the best and so when we got to the Rokin we jumped to the chance to have a boat cruise around the canals of Amsterdam. This was truly magic as it was already dark and most houses are well lit. Back home Reinie had returned from her afternoon trip and Bart was anxious to meet his Nephew Johan ( the professor formerly know as WJ). It was great to meet him and Papa talked for hours. Tomorrow will be cold they say but the welcome has been so warm that I'm not worried.
