All -

Tonight we are in Tel Aviv as planned.  Leaving Cairo was a mixed feeling.  We all love the pyramids and antiquities but Egypt was a tough and interesting side trip for most of us.  The area has so much culture but also a lot of sadness and difficulty.  It's a wake-up call when you realize the masses of people who struggle in life.  We are shielded from so much of this as Americans.  If you get a chance to go to Egypt, do.  The pyramids are worth every moment and penny we spent there.  But go knowing that much of it is a Third World experience.

Our layover in Amman was without incident although I had a near miss at the airport.  I took a photo too close to the security area and was escorted by three police officers who wanted to go through my  photos.  They were not happy and it was a minor scare.  They take security more than serious in this area and we are all OK with that.  I was very happy when they let me go!

Arriving back in Tel Aviv was met with a lot of excitement from our group.  Our wonderful guide, Jacob greeted us at the aiport.  We were all so happy  to see him!  Truthfully, after seeing such dire circumstances in Egypt it was a breath of fresh air to get back to Israel.  By comparison Israel is so prosperous.  I don't think any of us really realized this until we arrived and the comparison was so stark.  Tel Aviv looks like a city on the rise.  Plus, staying on the beach overlooking the Mediterranean doesn't hurt that at all.  The beach is beautiful and loaded with people enjoying the weather and each other.

Tonight Richard and I walked on the beach with another couple of travelers.  It was fantastic.  Amazing surf, gorgeous water, and the perfect sunset.  When you live in a place like Oklahoma you never take the beach for granted.  When I walk away not only do I miss it, I get a weird feeling that somehow it misses me!

Our flight departs at 11.15am Tel Aviv time.  That will be 4.15am Tulsa time.  So when we get in to town tomorrow night at 10.30pm it will have been a good 19-hours of flying and airports.  Yawn!

We are so looking forward to being home and seeing our loved ones.  It truly has been the trip of a lifetime but there really is no place like

Be blessed!

Come home safely. Thank you for sharing this remarkable journey with us.

Thank the security folks in Jordan for letting you out.

Note too that the poverty in Israel is high and growing. Like all countries, the unemployment is high. Many of those who have come to Israel from the former Soviet Union, from Ethiopia and elsewhere, live in poverty. Perhaps it is just not as easily seen.

REST when you get home.

I am overloaded with thought provoking information and an unpresidented need to make a Holy Land trip bc of your blog dear friend.
Thank, thank, THANK you for taking the time to write. I personally know how much time it takes to write a post each day. The decision of pictures, topics, brainstorming, can take hours. So thank you. Your hard work planted seeds.
