We said a sad goodbye to the Casa Malibu Inn on the Beach, and drove up through Malibu Canyon to the freeway. After a quick stop for FLAX shopping in suburban Los Angeles, we headed north-west across the several hundred miles of the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas - mainly wastes of empty scrubland and rocky mountains. There are two main towns on I-15: Barstow and Baker, neither with anything to recommend them.

We arrived at the Wyndham Grand Desert in Las Vegas at 6pm, and checked into our apartment - very nice, on the ninth floor ....... but the furthest you could be for the elevators :-/
