Sunday - we set off for the drive to Mendocino via Sonoma (a pretty little plaza), stopping for lunch at the World Famous Hamburger Ranch and Pasta Farm  (their claim) in Cloverdale, a very small town on Highway 101. As we were leaving, six Porches roared into the car-park. Surreal.
The route across the hills to the coast was winding but lovely, and we came into the giant redwood stands about ten miles from the sea, which was stunning.
Our B&B - the J.D House (aka John Dougherty House, sometimes) in Mendocino is very classy - we have a beautiful room (Raven) with a magnificent view from the sun-trap deck. I have tried taking pictures with the camera-stick - about 2 feet long, which you hold in front of you to take pictures of yourself - but not much success so far - I keep cutting the tops off our heads, or we're squinting or gurning. Maybe I'll get the hang of it eventually!
We found a bottle of champagne in our room on arrival, as an anniversary gift from the management, so enjoyed that on our deck as the sun went down!
