Whenever we come to America we book a Towncar from Hertz. However, just like our last trip here to Orlando they tried to give us a grade lower insisting that there was nothing else available. And, just like last time we stood our ground and explained that we were not going to  accept a vehicle lower than the grade we had booked and paid for. And, just like last time they upgraded us to a vehicle out of their 'Prestige' range. It is a shame that we have to do this.

So, finally we were away from SFO and going to the Golden Gate Bridge. Having driven over it we stopped at the overlook and got out the car to take pictures. My jacket was in the boot (sorry, trunk!) and it was incredibly windy so I was all over the place trying to put it on. Then, when we settled back in the car I found that my wallet was missing from its usual place. Panic.

Then a bit of rational thinking and, yes, my wallet was in the centre armrest where I had put it after returning my driving licence back (you have to show the licence when exiting Hertz with the rental car) Golden Gate Bridge

. Relief.

But then, where are the passports? Mine was with my wallet (same reason) but not Steph's: that would have been in my jacket pocket, surely, after coming through security at SFO?

Panic again and really couldn't find it this time. The drive to NAPA was very much in 'worry' mode. Happy ending though, it had slipped down between the passenger seat and the central armrest.

So, the first day was a day of losing things (Steph's silver bracelet) or nearly losing things!
