Cwato yn La Paz
´Rwy nawr wedi dechrau dod i´r arfer a´r broses y brynu pethau mas ma, ond mae e dal yn mynd ar fy nerfau weithiau. Mae´r rhan fwyaf o bobl yn dechrau ar bris uchel, ond llawer o´r amser mae nhw´n gwrthod gwerthu pethau i fi heblaw fy mod i´n talu dwywaith cymaint a dyle fi. Llawer o´r amser dim ond tua 30 ceiniog yw´r gwahaniaeth, ond dim na´r pwynt. Fi yn gwella nawr, ddoe mi dreilies i hanner awr yn bargeinio am y trip nesa wy´n gwneud. Rydw i wedi siarad gyda pobl sydd wedi gwneud yr un siwrne, a mi wnaethon nhw i gyd dalu yn fwy na fi. Yes!!!!
Heblaw am gael harten tra´n talu am unrhywbeth, rydw i wedi cael llawer o brofiadau gwahanol yn y dyddiau diwetha. Mi ´roedd Llyn Titicaca yn hyfryd- mae awyrgylch mor dawel a heddychlon yno. Mae´r llyn mor fawr dydych chi ddim yn gallu gweld yr ochr arall mewn rhannau. Mi es i a Martin (y boi o´r Swisdir wy´n teithio ´da) mas i Isla de la Sol (Ynys yr Haul) mewn cwch. Yn ol y chwedl, dyma lle dechreuodd ymerodraeth yr Inca, felly mae´n le sanctaidd iawn. Mi fydde´n le hyfryd i aros am gwpl o ddyddiau- mae mor bell o unrhyw drafnidiaeth neu swn, mor chilled a sy phosibl.
Yr unig beth bach yn od am Copacobana yw fod rhyw fath o epidemic llygaid (conjuncavitis, neu rhywbeth) yn amlwg wedi bwrw´r lle. Bydde chi´n cerdded lawr y stryd a´n sylweddoli yn sydyn fod pawb o´ch cwmpas yn gwisgo patshys ar ei llygaid. Roedd yr holl beth bach yn surreal. Bydde fi wedi hoffi cael llun o hyn, ond ´roedd ofan clatshen arno fi.
Eniwe, mi ´roedd pobman ro´n i wedi bod iddynt wedi bod yn lefydd neis, gydag awyrgylch hamddenol. ´Roeddwn i´n disgwyl yr un peth yn La Paz, ond ges i bach o sioc pan cyrhaeddon ni. Pan daethom ni oddiar y bws mi ddechreuon ni siarad gyda merch o Australia oedd wedi gwneud yr un siwrnau. Mi ddywedodd hi llwyth o straeon uffernol yn La Paz, am ladron yn dwyn waledi, pobl yn cael eu herwgipio, pobl yn gwisgo lan fel heddlu a.y.b. O achos hyn mi dreilio ni´r noson gyntaf yn cachu pants a chuddio yn yr ystafell.
Wy nawr ar fy nhrydydd dydd yma a fi dal yn fyw, falle dyw pethau ddim mor wael a hynny. Mae´r ddinas yn hyll ond yn fywiog iawn. Tamed bach fel Abertawe, falle. Mae llwyth o fechgyn glanhau esgidiau yma, ond am rhyw rheswm mae pob un ohonyn nhw´n gwisgo cap pig a balaclafa dros ei wyneb. Bach o sioc tro cynta mae un yn dod i siarad da chi, ondywe.
Cowering in La Paz, Bolivia
I think I´ve started getting used to the process of buying stuff out here, but it still gets on my tits sometimes. Most people start at a stupid price, but a lot of the time they won´t sell me the stuff unless I pay twice as much as I should. It´s normally about 30 pence difference, but that´s not the point. I am getting better, yesterday I spent half an hour bargaining for the next trip I´m doing. I´ve talked to other people who have done the same trip, they all paid more than me. Yes!!!
Apart from having a heart attack every time I try and pay for anything, I´ve had a lot of different experience over the last couple of days. Lake Titicaca was lovely- it´s so peaceful and calm. The lake is so big that you can´t see the other side. Me and Martin (the Swiss bloke I´ve been travelling with) got a boat out to the Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun). The legend has it that this is where the Inca Empire started, so it´s a real holy spot. I might go back and stay for a couple of days- it is as chilled as is physically possible.
The only odd thing about Copacobana was that there has obviously been some kind of eye epidemic (conjunctivitis, or something). You´d be walking down the street and suddenly realise that everyone around you was wearing eye patched. It was a bit surreal. I would like to have gotten a picture, but I think I may have been punched.
Anyway, everywhere we´d gone to had been lovely places, with tranquil atmospheres. I was expecting the same thing in La Paz, got a bit of a rude awakening. Getting off the bus we started chatting with this girl from Australia who´d done the same journey. She told us a load of horror stories about La Paz, about pickpockets, kidnappings, people dressing up like the police with fake police cars etc. We spent the first night cowering in the room, trying to not get shot.
I´ve now been here for three days and I´m still alive, maybe it´s not as bad as all that. It´s an ugly town, but very lively. A bit like Swansea maybe. There´s loads of shoe shine boys here, but for some reason they all wear baseball caps and balaclavas over their faces. Which is a bit of a shock the first time you see a couple of them.
