Hi everyone,
I'm finally off to pursue the dream, or at least the frist part thereof. Left Waterford early this morning (5am) for Shannon airport. Just over 6 hours to New York with Continental, and on my first visit to the big apple, I am debating on how I will spend my time there, all 2 hours of it(!) before I head on again to Orlando international. Anybody would think I liked flying lol. Over the past four weeks since finally deciding to do this course, I have been chasing documents from Ormond Beach Aviation, my home for the next eight weeks, waiting on FedEx deliveries, obtaining clearance from 'Homeland Security', basically proving I'm not a Bin Laden, despite the uncanning resemblance, getting bank statements, sorting the loan, the sole question asked of me on arrival at the US embassy was...."Is there not a flying club in Waterford where you could do this?"
Now, this was quite a revelation to me. NOT! And as I explained, the lads in Cork (Hi Guys lol) got me a flying voucher for my birthday (May 1st), and thanks to the Irish weather, that same voucher remains unused! So off I go, eight weeks in Florida, to the heat, sunshine, and I'll try to update this as much as I can, and throw in a few photos. First 21 days should see me doing 7 exams and a flight test, 45 hours flying, and hopefully passing the first step, the Private Pilot's Licence. After that, flying solo for 100 hours and the last few days flying twin-engined aircraft.
