Where I stayed

It's just past midnight on the day I'll leave for Alaska. The bike is packed, and after a good night's sleep I'll be ready to roll in the morning. I have a rough idea of where I want to be on certain dates, although plans may change with weather, road conditions, flat tires, compelling landscapes, or good fishing holes.

Actually I don't have a fishing pole with me, so that last item is unlikely to delay me, but fishing will be on my mind as I travel and think of Dad who passed away last January. Dad took my brothers and I on an Alaskan fishing trip about 10 years ago and what an incredible trip it was! I've wanted to get back to Alaska to explore more of the landscape, and Dad was almost as excited about the trip as I was. He even talked about getting a small RV and coming along. He won't be in an RV, but he will be with me. He always is.

I managed to fit my laptop in with my gear, so as I have time and Internet connections, I'll update this blog with a few notes and photos.

Thanks to everyone for their support.

More later!

This is so cool. Some day I hope to be able to do the same trip. Make sure you take lots of pictures. I sent the link of your blog to a few of my friends and my one buddy would like to see a pic of your bike with all of your gear on it.
Be Safe!

I see that lonely Goldwing sitting in the corner of your pic. As a friend, I am willing to go out of my way and take your Goldwing for a know, bikes do get flat spots on the tires if they sit too long. Just let me know...I am willing to sacrafice my time to help you out.

Hey Dave, if it is not too much trouble, I have relatives in Minnesota, would you mind stopping in and saying hi to them for me? Drive safely!

Thanks for all the comments!! I wish I could respond to them in threaded form, but that doesn't appear to be possible. I'll respond to these as I go along, but I've got to get to bed for now so I can get an early start and get into Canada tomorrow morning.

Be safe Dave and enjoy the ride.
