If I had not gone to the Eugene air museum I would not know that the worlds largest aircraft was 90 miles away.

Whatever the tiny amount you know of Howard Hughes, he was a legend and the world needs people like him.

This was an extraordinary privilege and something I will treasure.

As you walk in to the museum at eye level you see lots of planes and a reception desk where you buy the ticket to go in.

What isn't immediately obvious is that you are under the wing of the Hughes H4 Hercules. Just as I get to the front and am facing the poor girl waiting to take my money, I look up and simply say "f*** me". I don't think it is the first time she has heard that.
For $25 you could be part of a party of four and have your picture taken in his seat which took about 6 minutes.

For $50 the museum curator would take you for a one hour tour on your own of the plane. Mine lasted 90 minutes with all the technical questions I asked.

It was an honour and I have a new engineering hero.
