I need to explain this one more time.

In the planning of this adventure we "met" a guy called Kevin, online who helped us plan a route across the US off road. He lives properly on the west coast but told us we have to do the route east to west. So we arrange to buy the bikes on the east coast and ride west.

We told Kevin we had arranged to buy the bikes but after 1000 miles we need to get them, serviced prior to the tough stuff. Kevin then introduced us to someone he vaguely knew. This is Keith. Keith Bennett said we could us his workshop to do the first oil change.

So from agreeing to help us change the oil, Keith has now, put us up in his house. Fed us. Watered us. Loaned us his workshop. Bought us service spares. Loaned us his car. Introduced us to his massive circle of friends and family. Arranged  for things for us to do every day and generally been the most hospitable of men.

After meeting loads of his mates who simply want to ensure we have a great time we thought things could not get better.

Another good friend of Keith's heard about my flying. "You must come and fly my plane"  was the response. So today we flew back to the Atlantic coast. Why? The plane's owner Glenn Miller asked us if we had ever eaten soft shell crab. "No!! Well lets fly 200 miles to Little River North Myrtle Beach South Carolina and you can try them"

So we did. And why not

Glenn took off and very kindly let me fly the whole way there and back in his Grumman Tiger. Absolutely fantastic.

I normally fly at 2-3000 feet and when Glenn heard this he told me to climb, and climb and we ended up cruising at 11,300 feet.

An amazing day that started as bizarrely as it continued.

On the way to the airfield Glenn had to have his bike checked. So we went to see another of the guys at his workshop. Rob. At Rob's shop we met two motorcycle cops, one of whom has just trashed his bike. Bill being Bill desperately wanted a Thomasville Police Department sticker so asked these guys for one. After much top selling from Bill they agreed. Once Bill had them on the hook it was easy for him to increase that to 2 stickers. Lets see if they arrive.

Ride 40 miles to plane. Fly 400 mile return to eat soft shell crab. Off the plane. 40 mile ride to massive seafood BBQ at Rob's house with another load of friends.

Brilliant evening, with loads of new friends and great seafood BBQ.

We cannot thank you all enough for sharing so much with us. You are rightly proud of your friends, town, state and country.

We won't forget you and suspect there is more to come.

American hospitality is amazing isn't it? Makes me wonder what it would be like if you were doing east to west in this country.....
You are right about Bill's schmoozing skills I can't believe he didn't get their bikes, guns, uniforms either.
Even more jealous now.....keep 'em coming..
Oh, and invite your friends to come greenlaning in Herefordshire.
