On the way to Sudbury I fell asleep for 5 minutes, and during that time Dave saw a yearling black bear, dead on the road near Deep River.
On the train there were many false moose sightings by a few drunk guys in the dome car, and 3 actual moose far off in marshy areas. During the frequent stops, black and yellow swallowtails, as well as monarch butterflies, flew past our windows.
As we pulled into Winnipeg, I spotted the first gopher of the journey, then promptly stopped counting gophers
In Alberta I've noticed a lot of hares in the city, which have spawned a lot of jibes toward The Captain. These monsters could probably eat The Captain for a snack though, that's why we left her safe and sound in Ottawa.
Looking toward our avian friends, I spotted 4 pelicans and a cormorant near Medicine Hat.
We also spent a good day at the zoo. Maybe I will discuss this more next week, depends on what kind of wildlife we run into this weekend.
