Well after we had spent several hours just trying to figure out how to pronounce the name of this place we undertook to explore the place! It is about 100ks north of Brisbane on the Sunshine coast - living up to it's name and giving us some fantastic weather! We decided to hire a car - a good deal we thought at $27 a day and well it was, only "shopping trolley on Wheels" would have been a better description for the 'car'! Still our 600cc mobile got us about safely but slowly!
There are a range of mountains near here called the glass house mountains and they were spectacular - just the huge volcanic pinnacles jutting out of flat flat land - amazing. We did some fantastic national park walks around here and just generally soaked up the scenery. Next was kondalila falls - some beautiful waterfalls hidden deep within national park, surrouded by rainforest, wildlife and fabulous looking water pools - we had a brilliant tramp aroound here. After all that walking we decided to chill a bit and headed off to the Eumundi markets - absolutely amazing with more than 500 stalls of produce with the admission criteria for stall contents being "make it, break it, grow it and show it". Definately a backpackers dream with so many free tasting of breads, dips, pestos, chutneys, fudges you name it! There are lots of little villages dooted around here specialising in crafts, art, coffe shops and ice cream - definately somwhere we felt we could stay!
Our three days here absolutely flew by and before we knew it we were back on the road, heading north again to Noosa meeting back up with Natalie and Emma for a week of R and R!!
