On Friday morning we hopped on the Brisbane to Byron Bay Express and promptly arrived in Byron Bay two hours later.

Byron Bay is South of Brisbane under the Gold Coast. It is a lovely small beach resort where most of the activities seem to centre around surfing and diving.

On Saturday we went for a walk along the coast on a 5 km walk around the cape where we spotted the world's tniest lizards, a 3 foot frill necked lizard and loads of crabs, and up to the lighthouse. The views were really impressive and from the top we saw a pod of about twenty Dolphins just off the beach.

After taking lots of photographs we continued our walk around the point and down through a bush reserve. Half way down we came across a Hang Gliding School where several very scared looking people were jumping off and landing on the beach below. We then headed back to our YHA Hostel and swam in the pool to cool off. (Followed by afternoon ice cream)

On Sunday we headed to Nimbin on one of Jim's Alternative Tours! It was a bus that took us to a market, but as it was raining really heavily not many of the stall owners turned up. We then went to the village of Nimbin where we were offered hash cookies by old ladies trading out of their old brown utes! and then on to a waterfall which was spectacular due to the amount of rainfall there had been. (Nimbin is a very hippy style town where the majority of the population smoke dope and don't wear any shoes!)

The following day we hired bikes and cycled around the Town and out to a quite beach (the one where the hang gliders land - so we watched a few of them land - guess who's idea that was!). Altogether a very relaxing time!
