Hello Washington D.C.
Entry 6 of 21 | show all | print this entry |
After an early breakfast and cab ride we met our tour group at the Hampton Inn. It's ironic that we left New York just as it started to rain.
We arrived in Philadelphia mid morning and did a historic walk which included the Liberty Bell, Benjamin Franklin's house and Independence Hall.
Stopped at Baltimore mid afternoon which was a huge surprise. They have restored their harbour to resemble Darling Harbour. Boiling hot and people everywhere.
Travelled onto Washington where we toured the area by night. Lots of road closures which prevented us seeing certain historical sites but the tour was great nonetheless. Nice to see George Bush has the power to divert traffic and close roads on a whim.
The next day we went to JFK's grave and more sites of the city. Afternoon spent at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and a trip on the Metro rail system back to the hotel.
The tour is shaping up to be fantastic however we booked what we thought was an English speaking tour however it appears there was not enough English speaking guests to fill a complete tour so we have been LUMPED with a bunch of Germans - oh joy!!
Where I stayed:
Raddison Hotel
