Playa Grande is approximately 6km North of Tamarindo, and just a short boat ride across an estuary and walk along the beach. The town is all but a few dirt roads, small mini market and no more than two restaurants. However, the beach is supposedly a major surfing destination and also one of the most important site for leatherback turtle nesting. So important that you are not allowed to be on the beach between 6pm and 5am. We had hoped to see the turtles in action, but no mammas came to lay their eggs on the night we booked in.

Our accommodation was fantastic. We had booked a standard room, but were greeted with an option of a one bedroom villa with kitchen,  king sized bed and cable TV for an extra 10 bucks a night... How could we resist the temptation of cooking dinner after three months of eating out! Let's just say that scrambled eggs never tasted so good :-)

So once again Dave managed to surf every day and even I got an hour or two practice in every day. Besides that our time at Playa Grande was spent watching House and Kardashian marathons. It was certainly a lovely week!
