So,
Last night was new years eve.  I have been a little down and out of it since returning from Amsterdam.  But, I made up my mind to do something special for the evening anyhow.  My friends, Liz and Licia both wanted to spend time together so we arranged for the 3 of us to meet.

licia and I would meet for dinner at a very nice restaurant near re di Roma.  It was a super nice meal with multiple courses.  We had some seafood starters and then some wonderful pasta, followed by some more small fish and prawns then some lemon liquer for a dolce.

Liz called us just as we were finishing eating and we all strolled together the short walk to Licia's flat.  I will be living in Licia's flat for the next 3 months and it was nice for Liz to see where I will be.

Meanwhile, the views were great...first fireworks from the left...then the right...then we dashe dto the 7th floor and omg!!!  everywhere...the skyline was lit with colorful explosions of fireworks from everywhere!!!!

Spectacular.

After what seemed forever, we popped the cork and watched some more, enjoyed each other's company and some interesting stories of times past.  Then after about 1:30 or so, Liz and I headed back respectively for home.

All night I could hear the popping of firecrackers as the crazy kids lit them and ran away.

New years day was very cold and rainy and everything was closed.  My computer wouldn't start so i packed bags for my upcomming move and then decided to go near the vatican...glad i did as they have a very interesting set up nativity scene...very realistic in front of st Peters.  I'm glad I saw it.

Later, liz called to see if I wanted to go out for sweets.

I did...
