So this was a very long week.  i am working about 9-12 hours a day for 2 schools.  Although my job is fun... It is indeed tiring.  Not to mention a daily gym schedule and a life.  I make this point because I had made plans for Friday night, Saturday and Sunday and was i relieved when it poured rain Friday night.  I gave myself a "stay home from school night".

The storm was very dramatic (like all things in Rome). Ya know, the sky became black with cloud all day, looming darkness in the distance as the clouds got thicker.  About 8:00 pm the real fun began.  My housemate and I were doing internet stuff and suddenly I heard the first thunder bolt.  I asked if that was thunder and it indeed was.  then lightning bolts started to crack the sky all over the place. And RAIN RAIN RAIN RAIN RAIN.  Definitely a stay in eve.

it felt like popcorn and candy night.

Saturday I had my Italian lesson.  Because it rained, we had to have our lesson inside instead of in the park as usual.  We had it in  the communist meeting room which led to lively discussion.  I teach my teacher English for one hour in exchange for one hour of Italian.  So pertinent discussion is best because teh use of language is to communicate and that's the best way to learn.  Needless to say, we both could talk politics but my Italian was bad that day. I wa salready at a low ebb but this didn't help.

On my way home I went to my haircut.  I go to a salon right next to Circo Massimo. My burner's name is Patrizio and he was chosen for me by my American burner and friend, Scott, when he visited last spring.  I told him "fai tu" which means "do it your way" and he gave me a real Italian looking cut with a crest up the middle.  I hate to be an ageist but it is a little young for me.

The night (and week) ended by me and my housemate, linda, playing a rousing game of "memory".  Listen, i have almost no memory, but it was fun Interesting architecture

Today I woke up with much more energy and did some long overdue housecleaning.  This afternoon, i spent in Trastevere looking for a nursery.  I have some plants at home I wanted to put in larger pots.  Everything was closed but I found the area oddly like San Francisco.

This is what it is like to live in Rome, some days are amazing and some mundane.
