So, It was finally time to fly to Rome.!! I was so excited I had my bags packed about a week in advance. I flew from San Francisco to Dublin aboard Aer Lingus. It was about 9 hours I think. I had a long and I do mean long 8 hours to hang out in Dublin airport but it was ok just to stretch my legs. After about 3 hours though, I started to look for places to sleep. Nothing. The airport was being renovated and about half was under construction.
Oh well.
Finally, I got on my last flight to Rome. I sat eagerly with my nose pressed to the window as it was late afternoon in spring and I just wanted to see the country below me. I can't describe the anticipation of beginning a new life in a new country.
In just a couple hours more...I would be home anew.
Then! I saw it! ROME, right down there below me. It was a beautiful and welcomed sight and it erased everything that came before it. From USA security, the long flight, the wait in Dublin...All of it. I was here now. to stay!
Even though the TEFL School I was about to attend offered housing, I opted to stay at Hotel Terminal for the first 2 nights because the accommodations were not available until Sunday. I had stayed at this hotel before and was quite pleased with it.
When I arrived from the airport (there was virtually no wait at security, passport control or baggage claim) to termini station, I walked over to the hotel and checked in. At last! I can begin my adventure.
