I have now left Germany, and I need to learn basic phrases
for a whole bunch of different languages as I embark on Eastern Europe. First
stop in Eastern Europe was Prague.

With Prague being a massive tourist city, I decided to stay
in a hostel on this occasion. I wasn’t going to make the same mistake as I did
in Berlin. This time I did some research and read some reviews. I found a fun
place where I met lots of people, although there were too many Australians
there. I didn’t arrive until about midnight, at which time I found a few people
left around to go out with. This included an Aussie bloke, a strange but
friendly Chilean bloke, and a girl from the US who had the most hilarious southern
accent that I’ve ever heard.

It was a rather quiet night for Prague, but we did happen to
meet several drunken characters, including a bloke totally passed out in front
of a hotel. I suggested that we keep walking, but our friend from the US
insisted on helping him. As he was stumbling around she went to get him some
water, and the rest of us watched a cop come over to the bloke as he took a
piss on the street. When you have a steady stream for about 20 seconds and a
cop peering over your shoulder there really isn’t any point in denying public
urination, but fair game to this guy for trying anyway. He then started
pointing at us, saying that we were trying to help him get home. It was time to
leave this whacko before he got us into trouble. Since he didn’t have a
passport on him I would assume he spent the night in the slammer.

I spent several nights in Prague. I was supposed to go to a
boat party on the river, but it got cancelled because of rain. I still had a
fun time in Prague with some attractive ladies, a bunch of Aussies, and a
couple of Danes who were hilarious. After I left Prague my next stop was
Bratislava, and it made sense for me to meet my friend Dan, who hosted me in
Southampton (for those who remember). It was great to see not only him, but
several of the girls I met there as well. Last time they made me drink too much
vodka, but this time I had way too much of a drink that they call Hruška. Basically it is made from
fermented pear, and the stuff is potent. I called it pear poison, and as it
turned out the Slovakians got me drunk again. This time I held my own, but
still had a whopping hangover the next day.

Bratislava was a beautiful city, and it is by far the
cheapest place I have been so far. From there I went to Vienna, Austria. Again
I stayed in a hostel, and this one had some interesting characters. Vienna is a
beautiful city, but I had gotten a bit sick in Slovakia and wasn’t able to
enjoy it as much as I would have liked. At least that’s what I should have
thought. I’m travelling, and I’m not going to let a bit of a cough get me down,
but mixing cough medicine with alcohol really isn’t a good idea. A very hazy
night lead to me losing my credit card for the second time, and I was hopeful
that Mastercard would be able to send me a new one.

The next night was another crazy one. I had met some better
blokes than the ones I was with the night before, so already I was in for a fun
night. We were walking the streets and talking to random girls while trying to
find a good option for a club. I even bumped into an American girl who I had
met on the train from Prague to Bratislava. I was telling a bloke one of my
stories and she turned around and said my name. We ended up at the same club we
were the night before, and something told me I should ask someone if they found
a credit card. The doorman had it, and he was my hero. After striking out with
what was probably the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen earlier that night I
was due for a bit of a good luck story, so I was thrilled to have my ass saved

From Vienna I now go to Slovenia, and then sunny Croatia. I
am slowly making advances on my European adventure, with many more countries
and surely many more great stories to come.
