Next day caught the boat to Caye Caulker, Belize. Way different world than Belize City! Laid back Rastafarians, crystal clear waters and added bonus it was Easter Week so the place was packed! Booty poppin was off the hook..haha, we could balance our drinks on some of the booty's we saw...Lauren was jealous that she wasn't born with that kind of talent. The next few days were packed with snorkeling, almost stepping on sting rays (minor freak out when Lauren almost jumped right on top of one) and partying with Swedish, English, and Canadian travelers.
O.k. so the cool thing about Belize is that it is surrounded by Cayes (small islands)(second biggest reef in the world) so Dave and I decided the best way to explore them was via 3 day sail boat trip with "Ragamuffin Tours" through the Cayes to the bottom of Belize (Placencia) wow....what an amazing time
Aside from the constant flow of the same 5 reggae songs over and over plus the sleezy capitain & crew, the other travelers on the sailing trip were great and we proceeded to snorkel with sting rays, spotted eagle rays, eels, turtles, dolphins, swim and camp on the most amazing little islands...drink copious of rum punch, eat copious amounts of freshly caught barracuda steak and conch civiche. We had dance parties, good conversations, best star gazing ever(according to Will) and late night bonfires on deserted "Rendevous Caye" and mildly occupied "Tobacco Caye".
We arrived in Placencia, did a swift runner from the boat sans tip, and did our best to find a place to stay... no luck... so we ended up sharing a place with our two favorite Norweigens, Randi "Rucksack" and Silje "Sundial" or just simply "short blonde one" and "big bird". The only things to do in Placencia are sun tan, drink, eat and dance! Oh and dance we did...Dave and I ended up winning 2nd place in an embarrassing and unexpected lap dance competition (preformed by Dave) against some locals that had some serious moves. The next evening we convinced Big Bird and SBO to miss their bus in the morning over shots of bitters with the very stoned locals (who orders that???! yeesh) to hang with us for one more day of Norwegian Ping Pong and great company of course. Hopefully they made their flight on Sunday....we didn't want Dave to have to suck on Sundial's toenail less toe..(you don't want to know)!
Ok! So that is the update for now! We made it to Guatemala by boat and are currently on the coast of Livingston staying in jungle huts and enjoying the tail end of happy hour with our overly hyper Danish friends.....TBC xoxo
