Where I stayed
We arrived yesterday, and to our dismay found Salto's only hostel closed. Permanently. Undeterred, we headed to the nearby supermarket for lunch and a think. The results of this involved me asking the price of every hotel in the vicinity, while Mr Hopkin sat in the air conditioned supermarket reading his trashy novel. But anyways, we're staying at Hotel Argentina for about 11.50 a night, which isn't too bad, especially considering we have 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. Or double vision.
Explored Salto a bit yesterday. Saw the river, saw the museum, saw lots of nice clothes shops. Really hot here, was around 38 degrees yesterday evening. After our exploring Dave wanted to buy some Gaviscon (other products are avaliable) for his ´heartburn´´. When he asked in the pharmacist for something because his heart was on fire he was asked if it was over a chica or a hot night of passion. Much ammused the staff helped us when returned and got Dave something for his problem whilst he kept insisting it wasn´t a wierd thing to say in English.
Today we went to the hot springs near salto. And man, they were hot! Several outdoor pools with bath-temperature water in, and temperature outside was pretty roasting too. We wished there was just one pool with cold water in! Anyways, had a relax and did some sunbathing, and I managed to finish my fourth book - I think if I get 5 done in a month I get a sticker. Rhys doesn't have corazon juego, but he does have a ridiculous tan line where the entrance band was around his wrist today.
Off to Punta del Este tomorrow, and we're definitely staying at a hostel, yay!
Lots of love
Dave and Rhys
