We set out bound for Ceduna after deciding to bypass Penong mainly due to the inclement weather and the small size of the town (technology withdrawal fever was taking hold) Today was raining hard and about 18 degrees so it was a real change to the high temperatures we had been experiencing.
We made lots of stops as the Eyre Highway followed the Great Australian Bight. The lookouts were numbered and offered fantastic views of the majestic limestone cliffs at the edge of our continent.
As we continued driving we encountered several dingoes. It was almost Dingo Central for one section of road. Tourists are not allowed to feed them otherwise they become too familiar with humans and will be destroyed by Rangers.
After being $1.90 a litre for hundreds of kilometres the petrol price all of a sudden dropped to $1.55 at Nundroo Roadhouse. How can the roadhouse before and only 100 kilometres away can charge $1.90? Also at the roadhouse the girls collected their "I crossed the Nullarbor" certificates.
During the drive today the towing mirror fell off after hours of road trains coming the other way with strong gusts of wind. Also Terry Territory's windscreen received a crack as a road train went past way over the speed limit in a road work zone. Not happy!
After our big drive we devoured a Bill's pizza that was very nice but not as good as the ones from Coral Bay. We settled into the caravan park and looked forward to exploring Ceduna tomorrow.
