We are in Broome and we like it! The last 100 kilometres seem to drag on forever but it was wonderful to see the turquoise water of the Indian Ocean. Broome is a tourist town and why not with so much history, attractions and a climate to die for. It was interesting to read on the road signs approaching Broome someone had stopped at every opportunity and written 'stolen town.' Despite questionable reviews on Trip Advisor the Cable Beach Caravan Park was friendly and the facilities excellent. Driving into Broome you really appreciate how the desert meets the sea. It is difficult to tell whether the dirt is the red soil or sand. Our caravan site has no grass and if you drop your clothes they get completely covered in red dirt! We have TV (four stations) but the reception is bad and digital doesn't exist. We made our way into the very modern Info Centre and collected thousands of brochures to find out all about Broome. Most tours are still operating but a couple have closed for the season. I would have liked to see the horizontal waterfalls but the flight is over $500 pp, so next time. Tea was pizza on Cable Beach as the sun seemingly disappeared into the water.
