Woke up this morning at 4.00am no doubt due to jet lag or more specially driver lag. Yesterday we gained1.5 hours after crossing the WA border so it was really 5.30 am when I woke up. First thing in the morning on the trip I read the headlines from The Age and Herald Sun and sometimes I will listen to my favourite radio stations on the Tune in Radio app. I went for a run at 6.00 to once again beat the heat but it was still really hot and could only manage 30 minutes.
First stop of the day was Hidden Valley National Park to complete a couple of walks at the mini Bungle Bungles as the locals called them. We then visited the Zebra Rock Art Gallery. The gallery has all sorts of ornaments shaped from the local rock that has lines like a zebra running through it. We bought a mini vase at the expensive price of $69! The smoothies in the cafe were to die for. All during our stay we were accompanied by Kelly the Kelpie who took a shine to the girls. She took us everywhere and even showed us where to feed the fish in the river. There were piles and piles of catfish lined up in the water waiting for the girls to throw out the bread. When you moved to a different part of the jetty they followed you in expectation. When it was time to go Kelly the dog was upset and wanted to come with us and even resorted to following the car for awhile. After that it was into Country Target for some air con time as the temp hit 40 degrees again.
The rest of the day was spent poolside trying to avoid the heat. I finished my book about the explorer Stuart by reading it while standing in the pool.
At sunset we drove to Kelly's Knob to watch another sunset but this time across the picturesque Kimberly Mountain Range was the background. I filled up with petrol @ $1.87 a litre in preparation for our big drive to Fitzroy Crossing. The push to Broome is on.
