The Dimenties had a quiet morning as Terry Territory got some mud flaps for the rest of the trip. This was not so much for mud but the stone chips going onto the front of the Jayco. The Ford Dealer was only three kilometres away so I ran back to the caravan park in 35 degrees - a silly thing to do. The girls did some school work and Chloe skyped her grade.
After lunch we drove into the Darwin Waterfront and had a swim at the "beach." The beach is a small netted off area in front of the pier and a nicely landscaped area. The nets are designed to keep out crocs and box jelly fish. The water was very warm and seemed to be a haven for backpackers too stingy to pay the entrance fee to the adjacent wave pool. After the swim we had a coffee at the air conditioned Coffee Club.
For tea we had fish and chips on a jetty and then did some fishing on the wharf. We managed to catch a very small salmon but the sunset was brilliant and watching all the sights on the jetty was interesting.
Darwin was great except for the sand flies and heat. At night you can not sit outside without some form on insect repellent on otherwise you will be eaten alive.
