To start the day we headed to Crocosaurus Cove in the heart of Darwin city. It is a three level complex devoted to crocs and other reptiles. The girls held a snake, turtle and bearded dragon and loved it. Part of our group was a three year old Bindi Irwin like girl who held the animals with confidence and ease. She refused to share the animals and needed some convincing to do so. However, when she was holding a small croc it became restless and urinated on her so she dropped it! It was funny watching the photographer chase the baby croc across the studio.
Then we visited the NT Museum and Art Gallery which was wonderful and the Cyclone Tracey exhibit was very realistic and engaging for the girls. They came to appreciate its impact on the psyche of Darwin. Afterwards we visited the Wave Zone at the Waterfront. The wave pool was very popular with the locals as the beaches have stingers and crocs lurking in the water. The waves were a good size and included in the $12 family admission price was the use of boogie boards and tubes.
After tea Chloe and I went to the footy (yes again!) to see our team the Central Australia Red Tails play Palmerston who had ex Bomber Andrew Lovett. The Red Tails played brilliantly and won. The ground was inside the Charles Darwin University Campus and the crowd vastly differently from that at the Alice.
