Last night the heat was amazing. For the first time we had the air con on for the whole night. We are stayed at Bitter Springs but today we visited Mataranka Springs some two kilometres on the other side of town. Chloe commented today "it is pretty amazing that we are chillin' and going swimming while everyone else is going to school and working. I suppose we do lead regimented lives. The girls did some maths on the way up yesterday in the air conditioned car and continued their prolific reading,
First stop today was Barramundi feeding just up the road. Emmy and Chloe got to feed the massive fish with bait tied to a mini rod. It was a lot of fun seeing the fish take the bait.
Mataranka Springs is absolutely beautiful. The water is crystal clear and 33 degrees. It was so much fun swimming, floating and snorkelling. The only concern was being able to dodge the incoming bat poo from above. The water is so clear that you would see the little brown pellets land in the water and begin to decompose immediately. The smell was very interesting and a large sprinkler erected high in a tree was used as a water cannon in an attempt to disperse them.
Showering at this caravan park was interesting as I had to go in and check the showers for frogs before they would go in. What do they expect for $25 a night?
Late afternoon I drove to the Roper River to toss some lures around for a barramundi. It was a very eerie feeling as crocs can be in the area. I kept looking over my shoulder at every little noise. Driving home at dusk was equally unnerving as I had to avoid cattle, pretty faced wallabies (real name) and a donkey on the road.

Keep away from the Crocs! Unless of course you are wearing khaki and have an abundance of strength and rope!!

YES Chlo you are VERY fortunate to be doing such things whilst others work and are still sleeping with the heater on here at home! Stay safe xox

Great pic of the girls in the springs.
