We followed the Canyon down to the Eastern Exit of the National Park, from where we traveled through more desert up to Monument Valley. On the way we saw what I assume to be Native Americans picking fruit from trees (not an orchid or a farm, I mean wild trees), tons of strange animals, and even a guy who was so lazy he didn't bother turning off his truck when refueling. Sort of defeats the point really.
Once again the landscaped change rapidly. From the Forests that straddle the Canyon, we went through some strange multi-coloured sand formations, more desert, then on the horizon, those huge famous formations that make up Monument Valley.
The highlight of my trip, I've wanted to go there for many years, and it didn't disappoint. From miles away we could see the bizarre rock formations, stopping every five minutes to take more photos. Eventually crossing into Utah, we made it to the small centre at Monument Valley. Had a small museum place, and a large Shop. Good ol' USA. We were the only people there. I'd have thought it would be rammed, but I guess most people see them from miles away, and turn around again. Shame, its much better close up. We took the car onto a small, offroad track that winds around the formations (I'm sure they have a better name, but I don't know what they are actually called - Buttes maybe?) and saw even more strange animals. Very cool indeed.
After a couple of hours snapping away, we had to retrace our route back, staying overnight in Flagstaff.

Those are some awesome shots, keep it up! I always wanted to go to the desert, I'm planning on taking my motorcycle in 2010!
