My first trip back to the USA after studying there, this trip was a very ambitious 10 day drive around Arizona, California and Utah. I say ambitious because I didn't realise just how far some of the driving distances were.
We started off in Phoenix, driving down to Saguaro National Park near Tuscon, home of thousands of huge Cacti. I can't remember the proper name for them, but they are the typical ones you think of when someone says Cactus. Think the Roadrunner cartoons and you're on the right track.
Whilst in the national park, we visited the Desert Zoo there. Had a collection of the various animals you would see in the desert, if they actually came out once in a while. The most interesting stuff for me was in the car park, where Coyotes and lizards mooched around galore.
Later on we went into Tuscon proper, mooching around there before the relatively short drive back to Phoenix for the night.
