The Golden Triangle.  Any of you with any sort of education will instantly think "Opium".  You'd be correct, as this was indeed the centre of the Heroin drug trade only a few years back.

Now, however, it's gotten even worse.  It's now a tourist trap.  It's got a Giant Buddha.  It's got lots of signs saying "Golden Triangle" and lots of people queuing up to be photographed by them.  It's also home to a couple of Opium museums which seem to be heaving.  Why?

It's because this is where Thailand meets Laos and Myanmar.  This is due to the Ruak River that flows into the Mekong River, creating the borders for these three countries.  So, for many people, this is as close as they will ever get to the mysterious Laos and even more mysterious Myanmar.
