Today we went to Singapore Zoo. Such tourists eh? I don't care. Its a great place. There are few cages, its mostly open plan, with decent habitats and information. It has a decent range of animals (from Bats to Polar Bears...in the Tropics? That explains LOST...) and half the animals are centimeters away - most of the monkeys/apes are in the trees above you, as they go from one enclosure to another, quite happily. Other parts have walk through enclosures, great ones were Bats/Birds and Sloths and the Reptile House with Lizards and small Monkeys. Although I love my local zoo, Port Lymph, this place wees all over it from a great height. Literally, as one Orangutans weed on the pavement from the tree above. Filth.
I also saw a native wild snake in a bush, so I was well happy. Its all very well seeing one in a tank, but much better in the wild. Will need to check out what it was at some point.
But my highlight was the Polar Bears....in the tropics. Mental. They looked awesome, and the photos don't do it justice really.
We got there at 10am....came out just before 6pm. That says it all really, if you know how bored I get normally. From there we headed down to China Town for some dinner, ended up in some side street having a lovely Thai. yum. We have another day here in Singapore then its Oz. I'll update some time then.
