We stayed in Cairns for a week at a central caravan park pretty close to the city. It was the closest place we could get and was about a 20 minute walk to the centre. Cairns is a fairly big place all geared around the reef. Every other shop in town is a travel agency and is a backpacker's paradise. Full of bars and Restaurants.
On the Tuesday night we went out as this is the cheapest night to go out in the week and is aimed at backpacker's. There was lots of beer offers so we ended doing a bit of a pub crawl. In one of the places, the Woolshed, they had Fish racing. You bought a fish through an auction and raced it against someone else in one of the long tanks. We arrived a bit late so we couldn't buy one. Following that we checked out some of the other bars.
The rest of the time we just went for walks along the esplanade and around the harbour. On the Saturday night, thanks to Darren's mum and Colin for Easter, we were treated to a meal. After that we went to the local Irish bar were they were showing Premier league football and we watched Liverpool embarrass Arsenal at Anfield four one and go back to third in the premiership. Five days after Darren sent his GPS for repair it was delivered all fixed and working to the campsite. It was all done under warranty and traveling around towns and trying to find stuff is easy again. A big thanks to Mitac (Synnex) for repairing it so quickly and best of all for free.
