Another place Kim went with her Granny last year and wanted to take me to.
As you crest the hill on approach to this hilltop village you see a mini Manhattan skyline... the village has 14 towers (which once numbered 72) erected as a symbol of a family's wealth and power. Most were built in the 13th Century but much on the wealth and towers came tumbling down when the plague got hold of the place.
As usual there are lots of churches and big piazzas and narrow cobbled alleys which you could easily get lost amongst. It would be a superb place to play hide and seek as child.
In Italy food and wine is never far from our thoughts and there were lots of little Deli's and wine caves to tend to those interests
Time to move on so we began to wander out of town, on the way Kim spied a Gelateria and could not resist. We both had one with 2 scoops and were in shock with the super scoops we received. So big they needed an extra bit of cone to help consuming without a disastrous spill.

. But the sun was pumping out the heat and all we wanted to do is get our quota of vitamin D... Kim knew just the place - a wine bar on the city walls with views into the vineyards in the valley below. Our food and wine needs were met with a fantastic cheese and ham platter (including wild boar!) to share and Kim sampled the local white "vernaccia"... the verdict? Very drinkable so a bottle was bought for consumption in Scooby at a later time. Time to move on so we began to wander out of town, on the way Kim spied a Gelateria and could not resist.
