We paused again in the town just north of Eureka on the 101 just long enough for me to get out and stretch, and then we hit the shore.  We stopped at several of the beaches along the 101, pausing for pictures and to enjoy the scenery.  But even still, we were still able to make it to Prairie Creek Redwoods and the Elk Meadow in the early evening, just at the right time to see the Roosevelt Elk herd gathered to eat.

Then we continued along the Drury Scenic Byway through the amazing Redwoods, pausing just barely up the road where a lone bull elk was munching in a meadow much closer to the road.  I was proud to see that not a single person tried getting out of their car to approach the elk. Usually there's at least one idiot who does.
