It was an uneventful trip, we headed toward the marina and were met by the dockmistress and made an almost perfect docking. It is always a bit stressful when you enter an unknown dock with no lines ashore and the wind blowing up so we are happy to have help which is usually most expert. The slip was a bit long for our boat so we fiddled with our lines for quite a while as the wind was wanting to bang us on the dock
We spent Saturday cleaning and were stowing some items from the deck below in the cabin, the boat belowdecks was a mess by the time we finished all our hard work! The folks living aboard a boat next door said they would very kindly keep an eye on Rafiki. We had a lovely dinner at the marina as a reward for our busy day. Next morning we were nearly fooled by the advance of clocks overnight. Dave set the alarm on his Blackberry and when he got up he thought he had made a mistake because the cabin clock said 4am and the Blackberry showed 5am. A quick call to a taxi on the VHF confirmed the time and we arranged for a lift to the airport.
The reason for our return to Philadelphia was to greet our first grandchild on his arrival, he was due to be induced on Monday. On the Saturday we heard from our son that labor had started spontaneously and we kept in touch by text when we could as we travelled home. As soon as we got home we changed and ate and went to the hospital and were there for another 6 hours before Daniel George Hall arrived at 2:15 am on Monday 3/9/09. He weighed 8lbs 2oz. Mom and baby did well and were soon home and I have had a wonderful time with my son, his wife and new baby, helping where I could. Grandpa has been working hard and travelling so has missed out a bit. We will miss the little chap as we head off to continue our trip.
