Early boat tour to try and spot some more whales but Christine decided to give this one a miss and relax on the porch and watch me set off onto the high seas - well just around the cove actually as the ocean is not far away. A bit of a grey day today but the rain is staying away and it is still warm - it was 27 yesterday and apparently the hottest in Canada which is a bit strange.

We sailed along the north side of the bay and close to the cliff edge at times to look at a bald eagle next up in the cliffs, alas the eagle was out hunting so didn't get a picture. There are many small coves along the coast and some are even manmade from a distant past when miners searched for a rich vein of copper - luckily they didn't find any worth mining.

Not many people on board but we kept a close watch out to see looking for signs of whales. The shores in this area are home to Humpbacks, Fin, Minke and Killer whales - all have been sighted this month. Suddenly we see a Minke whale arch its back and take a dive so we move nearer but it is hard to predict where it will surface. After about 5 minutes it is up again a few times before diving under water. It is difficult to take pictures of these whales as they do not play around at the top as the humpbacks did in Digby.

Back on shore and a drive out to the lighthouse to look across the ocean and then a drive around some of the smaller stretches of land that jut out to the ocean. However before we set off there was just enough time for tea and cake in the Cosy Tea Room.

Off for dinner now and a chance to catch some street dancing later - not sure what to expect. There is a firework display at 10:30 so hopefully Christine can stay awake long enough.

Just a quick update and some photos from the firework display.
