I chose to stay at Castle Mountain Chalets which is a series of wood cabins smack bang in the middle between Banff village and Lake Louise village. These were going to be our most frequented points of interest during the 5 nights we are here. We arrived on a sunny early afternoon, leaving us plenty of time to explore the creek near us and then take the 25 min drive to Banff to explore the town.
Firstly our chalets are great. They have a wood-burning fire place and a kitchen which is great so we can make our own breakfast instead of eating out every morning. There is nothing else where we are but a tiny shops with a shop keeper from Townsville who was quite clearly new to the job and a single pump for fuel. Otherwise that's it for 25 minutes. But that suits us. We have been warned of nearby bears but Danny has done his research so we know what to do when we see one.
Banff is a town, with a lot of shops, hotels and residences. And overlookng it all are beautiful mountains. We can't get over the mountains, they are just magical. Danny did some fishing at the creek near Banff entry. The fish were big but not interested at all. I was bored as hell to be honest. He'd done so much fishing on the way from Salmon Arm to Banff, I was over it and didn't have my book on me. Had dinner in town and then drove back to chalet to try out the fire place, which was boiling by the way. We are near a train track which has like a freight train go past a few times a day. The tooting is exceptionally loud, but still managed to sleep through it and there are chipmunks jumping around our roof. Ahh, gotta love nature. And over the next few days we're gonna see a whole lot of it.
