Just arrived: first day
Entry 1 of 40 | show all | print this entry |
(I'm afraid the first few blogs aren't going to be intersting, I am just warming up. Have no fear though, after the trek in a few days time things will fire up I'm sure!!!)
Hello everyone. Just to let you know I have arrived safe and sound after a not so bad flight. Arrived 3pm Thai time, about 9am UK time. Sat in between an Aussie guy called Gus who is apparently best mates with the actor Hugh Jackman, and a German woman called Karen who is a prison warden. Nice.
Made friends with Gus who gave me his contact details, as some of his friends own an events company which has offices in Oz and UK. Well done me!
Managed to sleep for most of the flight, despite Gus' several projectile nose bleeds BAH!!! When I arrived in Bangkok I had organised a 'limo' (just a car) to be waiting for me and they took me to the hotel that I was TOLD the girls were staying at. When I tried to book in it turned out they weren't there at all, the onstart to a major panic attack.
Where's the tamazapan!!!!!
When I tried to call the girls, the phones wouldn't work and then my credit card wouldn't work. Things were not starting well. I decided to get a tuctuc to another hotel I had heard about called the D&D (it seems every traveller in the world knows the D&D) and booked myself a 'dulux' single room for one night (eight pounds), and thought - well I'll just have to find them somehow.
I went to call the girls again from reception and it turned out they were in the same hotel! Anyway, it all worked out in the end. I cancelled my single room and joined them in our 'VIP with balcony' room, which couldn't have been LESS VIP except maybe if Dean Gaffney was in it.
Anyway we are just popping out for some food and bevvies now so I will update again tomoro. We are staying at this hotel for the next 3 days and then moving north somewhere. Found a cat already.......... Love to all xxx
