I finished my 3rd German Course this week and the next one gets underway on Monday. It will be my last German Course which I'm really focusing on before really knuckling down to get a job in April. With any luck I will be able to get some hotel or office job, but we will just have to wait and see.
On Saturday, Winfried finally got around to having his birthday party for his 70th Birthday some 6 weeks after the event. But as they say "Better late than never!" He rented out the function room at the Friedrichsfelder Hof which is a restaurant near Edingen and ordered a big buffet dinner for around 50 guests that were invited. Steffie also spend the whole week baking up a storm in preparation for the hungry hordes. She baked macaroons, cake pops, cakes, muffins, cup cakes and just about anything else you could think of
Right up until lunchtime on Saturday, Steffie was still in the kitchen before we carted everything off to get set up. Thankfully the servers were doing most of the work there and we returned at 5pm to get the party started. The guests started arriving one by one and by 6pm everybody was there to get the 4 course event underway. From tomato soup to buffet to more buffet to dessert, everybody was full, fat and drunk. There was fish, cold meats, hot food and the obligatory coffee at the end to make sure that everybody was alert for the ride home.
We made friends with Steffie's cousins who live in Bavaria so we told them we would come and visit them sometime. We have so many people now who we have to come and visit, all we have to do is work out a way to see them all.
Saturday also marked the 18th month anniversary for Steffie and me. It's been a pretty wild ride over the last year and a half and hopefully there are many more adventures to come...
