It was a hard week at German school learning, amongst other things, indirect questions i.e. Ich möchte wissen, ob der Zug Verspätung hat. Most days I understand everything although that doesn't mean that I'm always motivated! At least I am a good boy and I always do my homework...
This week I finish my 3rd course and I've been applying for jobs for around a month. I've registered for the next course, but I'm hoping to get a job before the end of the month. It is getting to the point where all the things on my Wish List are being put on hold because they won't be financially possible. I have a few things going this week, so who knows.
As a bit of a distraction and because the weather is starting to come around, Steffie and I caught the bus into Heidelberg on Saturday to visit the Königstuhl which is the highest mountain overlooking the town
Chocolaterie YilliY is one of my favourite spots in Heidelberg because its so nice and cozy compared to a Starbucks. I haven't been to a Sprach Cafe for a while, although we will have to do it again soon. We went back to catch the bus and most people except for another couple got off to go visit the Schloss. No problem, we thought, because we are heading to the top and continued on, but after a brief stop at the Molkenkur the guy just drove back down without even asking us where we wanted to go! I was so mad when we got back down because we just did it all for nothing, but because the weather was so good I wanted to at least go up to the schloss or the Philosophers Way.
We ended up walking a different steeper route up to the Schloss Garten around the front which was good for stretching the legs and we weren't disappointed with the view. Apparently this winter has been one of the darkest here because it has been so overcast, but we've had more snow because it usually only snows once or twice here. Having said that it is nothing like Canada! The winter there was also pretty dark with the mountains all around.
The only good thing about having the bus tickets was that we got into the Schloss for free so it wasn't a total loss
We walked back down the steps into town and through the main street back to the tram. We had to get back in time because I had invited a few people around for a roast dinner and I needed to get it started early enough. It turned out alright, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the half a bottle of JD went down easily enough!
On Sunday I skipped football because Steffie's mother was sick so I helped her father take the kids to Sunday School. I've never been into a catholic church before let alone a German service and the local church is more of a modern construction. Sitting at the back ensured I didn't understand a word, but the kids seemed to be having fun. Afterwards I got ready to go to the ice hockey because I haven't been in a while. Steffie stayed at home, meanwhile, to do some more baking. It was a good game, but the umpires were really off their form. First they allowed a goal scored by a player obviously kicking in the puck (after reviewing the video for 10 minutes!) and then they disallowed one of ours. Luckily they were on fire in the third and came back 4-2 against Munich.
I can't believe that it is March already!
