I had high aspirations for this week about going and photographing the many different types of bicycles in Heidelberg. There are many different types with quite a few vintage styles that have enclosed chain guards or enclosed rear wheel guards, but instead I got a little bit side tracked.
First my German course finished on Monday so I have finished Deutsch 1 A1 and now I'm doing Deutsch 2 A2 so I said goodbye to half of the people from our class who weren't continuing along to the next course. Only Lin, Kiran and Nikolaus re-enrolled so we merged classes with the other group and added a few new faces as well. I'm still learning my Der, Die and Das with a handful of Den, Dem, Am, Um Zum and Zur thrown in for good measure. It sure is the right way to learn a language
Then I got busy getting my package organised for Australia by buying a few German things to send home. Go visit Rainer in 2 weeks and you might be able to read a German newspaper. Season 1 of Dr House has been entertaining me in the afternoons as well, but with an upcoming trip to Stuttgart this Sunday, I've been trying to organise that and Christmas cards as well. It isn't too late if you want one, just let me know.
The seasons are changing fast now. It will be a cool -2 degrees Celsius overnight and the possibility of snow for Christmas. But given that my friends in Banff have been snowboarding for a month already means that they have much more snow there already. I can't see the possibility of snowboarding this Winter, not without a job at least. I also found ice coffees here, well of sorts. They only come in a 250mL cup, but are 50 cents so I shouldn't complain!
Lastly, I've been trying to take a photo every day on the tram of the Edingen Water Tower. This tower marks the boundary of Edingen from Weblingen which is the outer village from Heidelberg. I never thought of a country having villages given that Adelaide is such a sprawling metropolis, but with fields separating the settlements there is a physical boundary at least. Anyway today I finally managed to get a good shot given the fast moving tram.
