Well its been a relaxing few days in Melbourne since I arrived and its certainly taking a bit of time adjusting to the slow place after such haste before my departure! It has really been nice catching up with a few people and doing some different activities.
On Thursday, I spent a few hours checking out the alleyways of Melbourne before catching the train out to Box Hill to catch up with Tyson after he finished up at the school where he is teaching French this year. Interesting fact, there are no bars in Box Hill although the bottle shop and Dumpling King got good patronage. I wouldn't suggesting drinking outside, however, as I got around 20 mozzie bites!
On Friday, I caught the circle tram to the Melbourne Museum for the first time since 2005 and had a good look at the exhibits
There was a travel expo at the Royal Exhibition Building on Saturday so Liz and I checked it out although there wasn't much information that I didn't know already. It was good for a free snag and a paper! I then caught the tram out to meet Tyson and Linda on Nicholson Street and we headed out for a picnic which turned into a late night out with dinner in Chinatown following the free concert held at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Yesterday I had a pretty relaxing day having a look at the National Gallery of Victoria .We did have a pretty good meal at an althentic italian bar - Pellegrini's Espresso Bar even if it was a tad overpriced. We hung around Southbank until the Tropfest Film Festival started in Federation Square although it was a little chilly.
It's off to Geelong to visit the Jacksons today!
