flying brings out the best (and worst...and sometimes more) in our trip
daniela is a nurse now. she has given me four injections in the last two days, all directly in the buttock region (slightly north actually). i went to the doctor in mexico just before we left īcause i was feeling a little sick, and he prescribed 6 injections of antibiotics for me (the diagnosis was the beginnings of a respitory infection, and, on the eve of my last injection, i feel fine thank you). we had a lady from the local pharmacy come to give me the first two (for the great deal of $2.50 a shot), and then daniela had to take over once we got to chile.
we are here in chile, by the way.
in order to make sure that she found the mark, daniela circled the area of my first two shots with a sharpie
chile is very nice, and the weather is perfect so far (knock on wood). we walked around the downtown area with danielaīs aunts today, and got a feel for the layout of downtown a bit. the city is ringed with mountains, and you would love the view that you have from almost anywhere in the city.
we are settling in more today; we had kind of a rough flight. i was recovering from being sick the day before, and poor daniela got sick on the plane, so it was a long trip. actually, the first episode of illness occurred in the jetway between the plane and the ariport in panama. we made it off the plane, but daniela didnīt make it into the airport before throwing up. luckily, she had grabbed a bag from the plane before leaving. we had an hour layover in panama and then got back on the plane for a 6 hour flight into chile. daniela got sick about 6 more times, and scared half the plane (her estimate) with her ability to empty her stomach into a small paper bag.
but we arrived in chile and managed to get ourselves and our gear to danielaīs auntīs house by about 530 in the morning
we will keep you posted as things develop down here.
tomorrow we are going to try to contact a chilean agency that is hopefully looking for volunteers to build houses. might be our first job opportunity.
i hope that all is well with you all. please let us know how school, work, and retirement are all going.

At the top of a kick with Uncle Robert
. maybe the circle will still be there when we get home and i can show you. if not, donīt worry. daniela took a picture. chile is very nice, and the weather is perfect so far (knock on wood). we walked around the downtown area with danielaīs aunts today, and got a feel for the layout of downtown a bit. the city is ringed with mountains, and you would love the view that you have from almost anywhere in the city.

. nothing we couldnīt handle with about 10 barf bags and some airline food. all told, we were traveling for about 14 hours...we will keep you posted as things develop down here.
