We wake up today - later than planned, but hey, we're still technically on holiday! - for our last time at the sweet camping El Jarding da las Dunas, which I recommend to all of you fellow traveller if you happen one day to be in this stretch of heaven on Earth, blessed by crystal clear ocean, splendid viwes of Africa, white sandy beaches and funky festive vibe.
Ale the dancer and Nicco the Florentine actor have left us yesterday, and it was a bit sad since we had ended spending two weeks living closely with them...at the same time I'm really glad I got to know Nicco a bit better, he really is a remarkable human being. In case you find yourself in Florence one day and are looking for some theathre, check his company out, it's called Venti Lucenti and I personally can't wait to be in Italy in autumn to have a taste of their shows.
Claire and I have decided to move to Tarifa proper and spend the nigth there to treat ourselves before I leave her at Jerez de La Frontera airport and start my Moroccan solo trip this coming Friday.
So yesterday we were left alone early in the day, and we gently busied ourselves with some preparatives at out campsite, tidying up our things, mending clothes and kitting out Monty the Land Rover, which is slowly becoming such a functional little mobile home. At some point towards the evening, we discussed the idea of having a fully fledged mobile studio that Claire and I could use everywhere we go to work...making art that could either be easily stored (drawing for example) or left behind (in the case of sculpture). As far as I'm regarded, I don't need much: my laptop and maybe a good table and a chair/stool.
We already have a good setup, easy to use and we most of the material we might need, and as everything when you're living on a van, it really is only a question of space and setting priorities on what you decide to take with you and how you carry it. I will have a look around the internet to see other people's ideas and the opportunities to apply them to us. If anyone has any heads up, please get in touch.
And if you're traveling in southern Europe/norther Africa as we speak, look out for a blue Land Rover with UK number plate, so you can talk to us directly!
stay Tuned for more, pictures of Tarifa available here. More soon!
