Today we returned to Le Havre, France. We had planned on taking a train into Rouen, France the city in Normandy where Joan of Arc was executed. We did not awake early and instead slept in. When we went up to the Buffet for breakfast we were surprised to see that it was almost empty. All of tours had already departed for their various destinations and we had breakfast in relative calm. This did not bother us as we were taking a train ride. Just off the ship is a small tourist office for Le Havre. The lady told us that train back to Rouen was at 11:00AM and the only train back that we could take was at 4:00PM. That would mean with a 55 minute train ride we would get back to the train station with just an hour before all aboard. She also said that they were expecting rain in both Le Havre and Rouen. The train schedule for Sunday is very limited and we were concerned about the lateness of our return. This couple with the fact that we would be encountering rain during the day gave us thought to our activities for the day. We decided to not venture out into the port that we had just visited two days prior. Instead we would rest up for the last leg of our world cruise. We will be on a more port intensity cruise with only two sea days for the entire cruise. We were asked before the cruise how we were going to handle the many sea days on the cruise. Now at the end of the cruise, we wonder what we will do with not enough sea days. Sea days had become a friend; they allowed us to prepare for the next port, rest from the last port and to have time to just enjoy the ship. But today we would stay aboard the White Lady to rest and prepare for the upcoming ports of call.
We came back to our cabin and researched our next port. A short nap and a movie were very restful. This was the first time on the cruise that we just did nothing. It was good. We had a quite lunch and I came back down to write this blog. Afterward, I will go up to the gym to do a light workout as we may not have many more opportunities while we are on the cruise. Tomorrow we will be in Belgium at the port of Zeebruge. It is next to a quaint old medieval city of Bruge. We will be ready for that port and Amsterdam the following day. I hope that I will be able to keep up with the blog. I will try and stay as current as I can.
Hunt for Harriet Results.
This was a hard hunt but we are starting to see some positive results. I will post the final results with the Zeebruge blog entry.
Today at this port we will let all of the hunters also have a day off so that when we reach Zeebruge, Belgium we will all be ready to charge down the homestretch of this world cruise
