Days spent crossing borders never seem to involve much excitement, but
we're always so chuffed with our passports and seeing new country
stamps in them!

Today was simply a wake up and goodbye to the four members of our tour
group who were leaving us in Jordan.  We took a bus down to the ferry
terminal and played the waiting game.  The bonus on the ferry ride was
that, due to a lack of seating, our group got moved up to first
class... meaning bigger seats and some nice A.C.!  Not a huge space,
but very comfortable.  Upon trying to exit the ferry on the other side,
we had to wait AGES! for no explainable reason.  Apparently it happens
all the time.  Our tour leader shuffled us down to the exit way where,
behind doors leading to it, the rampaging hordes of people were banging
on the door to be let out.  This was held back till the last minute,
then the pushing ensued.

Our tour leader had apparently seen fights break out at this point, on
previous crossings.  Not all the time, but some.  Two English girls and
a Korean girl were getting squashed aside by throngs of pushing men,
but they were close to our group.  Elbowing an approaching local in the
chest, we pulled them ahead of us so they could escape down the exit
ramp.  Feigning ignorance, I got away with it.  We managed to get all
of us off the boat without too much damage.

After trekking around in 38ish degrees, we managed to collect visas,
passports, and baggage and headed off to Dahab, our port of call for
tonight.  It's a tiny town on the Red Sea, known for scuba diving and
snorkeling, as well as a popular backpacker rejuvenation area.

Tonight we're just chilling out and catching up on emails, of which
there is much to do, as long as we don't melt from the heat first.

All our best from Egypt
