Just a quick update so no one thinks we're dead!

We had an awsome time in Damascus, but internet wasn't readily available so we never got to a cafe.  We did lots of shopping, trying to spend our money, but Damacians aren't as willing to bargain as Aleppoians, so Gabrielle didn't get a shirt she was after.

We departed Damascus, headed for the border crossing to Jordan.  We had borded a convoy of taxis, and upon arriving at the bus station, discovered that one taxi didn't show up (it didn't have any people in it!).  However, it did have the luggage of Gabrielle, myself, and a small bag of one other persons in it.

We headed off to Jordan anyway, after reasurances from our tour leader.  We figured it could have been worse.  It wasn't like it was all of our worldly belongings and we were leaving the country or anything.  Oh... wait, yes... it was.  That's exactly what it was.

Group mates consoled us with chocolate and on the way to the border our tour guide got a call saying the bags turned up back at the hotel, and they would be sent to Jordan on the next bus.

Since this involved them crossing the border without us, we had to give out the codes too all of our locks so they could rifle through our bags.   Now, we're hoping they made it on to the bus... and that they don't get stopped at the border... and that they arrive here.

Other than that, we're in the middle of Ammam, not in the usual hotel due to renivations.  So we're actually in the middle of nowhere in Ammam.  Everything requires a taxi to get to or an hours walk.  Also, it's insanly expensive, which is a rude shock after Syria.  The Jordanian Dinar is higher than the Euro.

Anyway, things can only get better in here.  Our group mates are looking out for us and our new guide is trying to get onto it already.  Due to prices in Jordan, we probably won't email again, or post, until Egypt, where things are back to close to Syrian prices.  Wherever you are in the world... hope your doing better than us!

Cheers and all our best
