Arrival in Geneva
The train ride to Geneva from Paris was very scenic, and the scenery will only improve when we enter the mountains. Tonight's our first night in a hostel, Mich was a bit reluctant at first, though we're in 2 3-person rooms and she's okay with that. We arrived when it was quite dark, and walked along Lake Geneva, which looked pretty with all the nearby trees lit up in different colours. The Jet d'Eau, a large water spout over 100m high, was functioning in the lake, but it was too dark to take good pictures unfortunately. If Belgium had endless chocolate shops, Geneva has endless watch shops. Along the lake were office buildings for Rolex, Tag Heuer, Omega and any other watch-related company you can imagine. And the stores were selling them for ridiculous prices, our roommate said he saw a Rolex selling for 15,000 France, or $20,000!
Dinner
We found a place called Menora (almost in time for Chanukah), which sold delicious margherita pizza cut to whichever size we liked, all four of us loved it, and we may come back in the morning. For our actual meal, we walked up a steep hill to a chicken restaurant, which only had 4 different meals available. As this was probably the only reasonably-priced restaurant in Geneva, we settled here, and Tow settled for a salad. After dinner we found an Irish pub that didn't look too expensive either, until Mich paid 13 Francs ($17.50) for a Baileys! As we're getting up earlyish tomorrow for Interlaken, we headed to bed at a reasonable hour.
